Welcome Back, Dragons!

Our Welcome Back, Dragons! celebration will be on August 22nd, beginning at 5:30 PM, with food and news for the new school year! We hope you can attend!

The first day of school for students is Tuesday, August 29th, with full days for all K-8 grade students. Pre-school follows a modified schedule which registered pre-school families will receive in the mail.

Kids Yoga and Mindfulness 
Presented by Jen Grant and Angel Roy
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. 
We'll explore the magic of yoga and mindfulness in a playful environment and provide some basic guidance to improve your child’s confidence, self-awareness , co-ordination and concentration, maintain their creativity, strengthen their physical abilities and increases their flexibility. We'll introduce simple breathing methods for your child to learn how to monitor their emotions and finish our session with a relaxation activity.

VSO at Miller's Run

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra’s “Harp and Soul” harp and flute duo will present performances at two Caledonia County elementary schools on May 12. The visits are made possible with help from the North Country Friends of the VSO.
Performance Schedule:

Newark Street School 12:30 pm

The Vermont Symphony Orchestra is the only professional statewide orchestra providing live musical experiences for listeners in Vermont. It is a state-supported non-profit institution founded in 1935 and exists for the purpose of fostering and encouraging the appreciation of music in all its various forms, with emphasis on orchestral, choral and chamber music.

Walk and Roll To School/Walk All Day At School

“Walk & Roll to School Day” + “Walk All Day at School Day”

Who:      Miller’s Run School Students and Staff

[Parents are encouraged to join the Walk & Roll to School group in the morning]

When:     Friday, April 28, 2017

Where:      Gather at the Sheffield Municipal parking lot beginning at 0740 am

Why:    To promote walking as:

  • a primary means of transportation

  • a choice activity for good health

    How does it work?

  • Parents, students and staff will gather at the Municipal building at 0740am

  • Parents are encouraged to walk or bike with their child(ren)

  • All bicycle riders MUST wear a properly fitting bicycle helmet

  • School Bus students will disembark at the Municipal building

  • Adults (wearing reflective vests) will be at the front, rear, and amidst the group

  • Traffic controlled by law enforcement

April 28th  is also “Walk All Day at School Day” for Miller’s Run School.  Students and staff will be signing up to walk for 15 minute increments throughout the school day.

School Spirit Week--February 20-24th,2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The student council has put together a fun and exciting spirit week for the kids! The week we have it planned for is February, 20th through February, 24th. Each day has to be school appropriate, this is what the student council has planned:

Monday - Super Dress up day

Tuesday - Twin day

Wednesday - Wacky day

Thursday - Spirit day (school colors)

Friday - Costume day (Teacher directed, can have hats fee $0.50)

We would appreciate if your child participate in this activity. Also on Friday there will be a school wide celebration and one of the activities will be to throw a “pie” at a group of teachers as a fundraiser for student council, the fee will be $1.00.
